Kitchen duty again! At least this time he was putting his hands to good use, repairing some drying clothes and pads for the cook's to use. It took far less time, and kept him out of the Head Cook's hair. Which he knew was the plan. The green weyrling chuckled slightly at the thought, before his attention was caught by a soft humming. Of the type that heralded a hatching? "What...?" A'ver muttered, glancing about until kohl rimmed hazel eyes locked on his blue fire lizard. The creature was stirring from his slumber about his owner's shoulders, eyes beginning to whirl excitedly as the song increased in tempo.
Mine? What is the blue one so excited about? Can I come see? It's boring out here all by myself. Come play.
The plaintive thoughts emanated from the area around Lake Summersage where a green was splashing about the water by herself. Little waves rolled up onto the shore, bubbles periodically breaking the surface. Sorry love, you can't come. The Head Cook would throw a fit. A'ver replied cheerfully, not the least bit saddened by the fact that he wasn't getting thoroughly worn out and water logged as Imith wished. However...he wouldn't have minded getting out of the kitchen. Speaking of which... The lanky lad rose quietly as Kriss flew from his shoulders, flying in excited circles before making his way out of the Lower Caverns. After a quick glance around, the weyrling was quick to follow. Hands rose to tuck thick locks behind his ears, then straighten his tunic quickly. Where were they headed...? It must be the flitter hatching...in which case he wasn't really allowed to attend, but he was going to show up anyway. It wasn't like he was going to try and Impress, just watch. Besides...otherwise Kriss might wind up begging food from everyone in the room. That would be rather bad, especially for the folks of the temperamental variety. It took several moments, and A'ver was glaring at the blue before he'd honed in on the Weyrwoman's quarters. "Seriously, sweet? I trained you to pick one dye out of hundreds, and you couldn't find a hatching fire lizard clutch..." Tone was amused, even as he followed the humming flit into the visiting rooms. He paused as he caught sight of all the people in the room. I could have found it easily. Imith's remark was smug as she expelled her breath to create bubbles, continuing her game of bubble catch with herself in the lake's depths. Half of her attention remained on Hers though, watching through his eyes as A'ver took in the colors of the shoulder knots present. There were bronze, brown, blue-and female at that-...the Healer, the Weyrwoman of course, and that girl that had been left Standing at Impression. Of course, he was the only weyrling present. A'ver ducked around the sides of the crowd, hoping to stay just out of Luna's sight but also where he could watch. There were already several young 'lizards resting bloated in their new owner's arms. A couple of greens, a blue and a brown. His tally ran through his mind as his fire lizard swooped low over the clutch, the usually lazy and chubby Kriss humming encouragement to the remaining rocking eggs. Surely more people would show up? These were free eggs, and A'ver knew his parents had paid an arm and a leg to acquire the egg that had hatched Kriss.

The Medieval egg just wiggled in Sandra's hand, almost as if it were wiggling it's butt, taunting her with what she didn't know.
Luna glanced up as the blue rider spoke. She frowned as the green nipped at her fingers in an effort to get more meat. She tossed another piece to the green and shook her head, "No, these are still unaccounted for." She gestured to the unclaimed ones. "Feel free to pick one up before it starts to crack open." ((Is that S'las claiming the Milkweed? Just double checking. ))
Luna's eyes brightened at the thought of two more strong additions to her Weyr. "Won't be too much longer before we can form true wings and start in the Weyr games." Oh yes, everything was just chipper right now. An adorable little green in her lap and happy flitts hatching everywhere. Not to mention, so many people in one place in her own Weyr.
She sighed and glanced around at the other eggs once her green had finally fallen off to sleep. She noticed K'lar nearby and quirked an eyebrow at him inquisitively. She idly stroked the green's hide as she tried to think up a name for the little girl. Naming wasn't Luna's best strong suit. She had tried to name her canine from years ago 'Stary.' It was a male dog. And the dog was rusty brown colored. Taisia. Yes, little green Tai sounded good. She smiled, wasn't half bad for a name Luna thought up.
Finally the Medieval egg cracked open and revealed a crimson red fire lizard. It immediately started climbing up Sandra's arm to try to creel in her ear. As if yelling in her ear got the message across any better than from his perch in her hands.
The maple egg popped open. The shell almost a perfect circle over the bronzes head. He warbled happily. He then squawked when the efforts to release his feet ended up in his body being covered in egg shell. He could move his head and walk his feet, but the rest was encased in the shell.

Danathi nodded. Seeing that Luna was somewhat distracted by her new little green, she grinned and turned back to the remaining eggs. She chose one(Moon egg,) that was slightly lighter in coloring than its mates. Lifting it out carefully, she found a spot to watch and wait away from the others, not wanting to be in the way. She had a meatroll in her pocket, wrapped in a napkin, which she hastily dug out. The egg was beginning to wobble slightly. She could feel the vibration against her palms, and sat, crosslegged, the egg set on her lap.

H`len finished feeding the Blue finally. The Blue seemed that he could not be satisfied, but finally the Blue was refusing food. H`len lifted the Blue to his face. For a moment, human and Fire Lizard were eye to eye with one another. H`len was trying to decide what to name the little guy. He did not want to name him something obvious like Blaze or Flamer. He thought about, trying to find something unique to call the little thing. The Blue yawned and started curling up in H`len`s hand. H`len smiled and then figured it out. "Sulio," he whispered, naming the Blue. Sulio chirped lightly, as if agreeing with his new name. His eyes were whirling in shades of blue and green. And for a moment, H`len had a feeling of love and devotion. And this was magnified by the Blue`s own feelings. He was happy he came after all.
As he got up to walk outside, he looked over at the rest of the eggs. There seemed to be another Brown Fire Lizard hanging around the eggs. He seemed to be signaling to someone to come over. But whoever the Brown`s Mine was apparently was not coming over to the eggs. Or maybe the Brown knew something about the eggs that they did not know. He hoped the rest of the eggs would Hatch safely.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lynx looked as a bronze head poked out from inside the egg. Lynx stared in surprise and shock before realizing that it was a Bronze Fire Lizard. The largest smile on her face, one that had not been seen since the day she Impressed Azurith, formed on her face as she was excited. Then came the squeals for food and attention. "Shh, shh, it is okay. I will feed you. A Bronze! Great Faranth, a Bronze! And he is so handsome!" she said to herself, getting up and going over to the bucket of food. She grabbed a small piece and offered it to the Bronze. He took it quickly, devouring it, and already begging for more. Lynx chuckled and offered him some more. As she did so, she already knew what she wanted to name him. "I will name you Rune. You and Azurith will be my helpers for my new job," she said excitedly.
Once he was happily fed, Lynx was seen almost cuddling the Bronze in her arms against her chest, but gently so as not to suffocate him. But as she did so, she looked over at the rest of the eggs and worry began to fill her head. What if no one else Impressed the others? Would they become wild? Would they die? She did not want them to die. She wanted to save them. And it seemed like others were still arriving to get the eggs, which was good. But what if...?
Lynx made her way back over to the eggs and touched the Mach egg gently. Could she have it? No one was pushing her away. She gently picked it up. The small cracks in it looked like the Fire Lizard would come soon. She held it up so she could try to see into it, but the because she was inside a weyr, she could not see anything. "Come on, little one," she whispered to it.
Sandra squeaked as the crimson climbed to creel in her ear. For something so tiny, he was a bit loud."Alright, alright! I have food for you!" she said, pulling him off her shoulder and offering a chunk of meat to him. The crimson snapped up the meal greedily, making Sandra laugh.
"Easy on the food Lask." she muttered, naming him without thinking.
~V'kem~ Watching, V'kem felt horror rise as Kaino continued to nose at the clutch. Why couldn't he have a normal flitt?! Now the little brown was creeling to the Mass egg, the Milkweed having been picked up. He didn't dare go grab the lizard, with everyone else wanting to grab eggs.
Mash kept bashing into the other eggs until his shell finally cracked enough to let him peek out. He gave a soft chirrup before noticing a brown face nearby. He creeled hungrily trying to beg some food out of the other flitt. With a few grunts he flopped out of the egg and into the sand in the pot. Poor Mash hadn't been picked before he hatched and boy was he hungry! The little blue was busy creeling and looking around for food.
~Jinek~ She had heard there were flitts hatching, and knew she was very late to get there. Risyth had not liked the idea at first of sharing. She was right in thinking how late she really had been, having stopped to get a few chunks of meat.
"Are there any left?" she asked, biting her lip in embarressment for her lateness.
~Kaino~ The blue in the Mash egg was begging for food. Why beg him, there were the big ones to beg from! No, he had no interest in the blue, as he kept creeling to the Mass egg. This one was his friend, it had to be. His big one would have to accept that, and then FEED him and his new brother or sister.
Luna frowned as the brown fire lizard started to play with the eggs in the pot. He wasn't doing much more than creeling so she didn't intervene. When the Mash egg hatched though she reluntently picked up a few pieces of meat and moved towards him. She didn't really want the guy to go wild, but Raineth was barely tolerating one flitt much less two. So it was relieve when she spotted Jinek. "Yes, him. He needs someone to feed him now before he leaves." She really pitied the wild ones, always the outcasts and never properly fed or taken care of.
Mass egg finally made her grand entrance. The egg fell to pieces around a regal looking silver. She craned her wedge shaped head and was about to open her wings, but wait ... another flitt was in the way. She leaned closer to him and chirped questionably. What was this?
Her heart jumped at the good news. She was late, but not too late! With a silent nod, Jinek moved toward the newly hatched blue. Sweet little thing he seemed to be. "I'll feed you little one." she muttered, offering the blue a bit of meat. The blue seemed to accept it gratefully, if not joyously.
Kaino meanwhile chirped back at the silver, darting to the collected food and offering it to his new friend. V'kem, finally unable to watch anymore, and accepting Kaino was going to act like this no matter what, grabbed more meat and offered it to the silver.
She seemed confused at first, but was happy for the meal. Maybe these two were worthy sticking around. Even more so if she could get the brown to bring her food.
The Milkweed shuddered in S'las's hand for a few seconds before it smashed the shell to bits. A very small blue looked up at the man and just crooned happily before curling up in his palm and closing his eyes. He was rather tired. Food would be good, but a nap was apparently better at the moment.
The moon egg rocked for a long candlemark before a dirt brown flitt poked his head out. His hide was a mixture of dark chocolate brown and dirty brown. It seemed to work for him.
The Mach egg didn't seem to want to waste anytime. As soon as a warm palm touched her shell she broke free of her confines and wiggled around on her bonded's arm looking for food. Unlike some others she wasn't tired at all! Nope, she was ready to go.
Lynx smiled at the new addition. But she feared that the little Green would wake Rune up. Trying not to wake Rune, she quickly grabbed some food and offered it to the little Green. At first, the little Green wanted to run and fly around, to be free. But as soon as she opened her wings and jumped to fly, she fell onto Lynx`s lap. Thus began the squealing of sadness that she could not fly at the moment. Lynx couldn`t help but laugh, but this laugh gave her an advantage. The little Green looked up and had full attention on the young woman. Lynx took this opportunity to offer the little Green some food again. The Green finally took it, hunger overcoming her want to try to fly, and she took it happily. Lynx fed the Green until she climbed up on Lynx`s arm. The Green, seeing her Bronze brother, crawling over to him and curled up next to him. Rune woke up for a second to see his sister. Giving her a welcoming chirp, he went back to sleep. Lynx smiled even more and held the pair happily. "Rune and Tryst. I couldn`t be even more happier," she whispered. "I have a wonderful dragon and now two wonderful Fire Lizards."
Yimian fed her charge 'til he wouldn't take any more, bit by careful bit. The brown curled up against her shirtfront, head laid trustingly down as the satiated flitt dozed off for a little while. The Weyrhealer gently took him off to someplace quieter, happy almost to giddiness at the Impression. She glanced down at him. Hmm. Names...Arael? It sounded good. She hoped he took to it. They'd see.
Danathi's egg was nearly the last to hatch, and she'd begun to grow worried, when the shell broke open to spill out a second brown, with a dappled chocolate-and-earthy brown hide. She offered him food, a grin splitting her face. "Hello there." He was wide awake, and creeling hungrily at her as she fed him. One hunger satisfied, he sat back and began to study the room, eyes whirling brightly. His wings snapped open, and for a second she thought he meant to try flying. But no, the little showoff was striking a pose, of all things...she reined in a laugh. "Easy, 'Sunami," she said, reaching out to him. He's excited, Silth sounded amused.
Ah, yes, her pleasure at his announcement satisfied him. A soft smile crossed his lips, and he stroked the surface of the egg thoughtfully. "Yes, proper wings would be a relief. And if the former High Reaches rider has connections to a queenrider there, we should receive support from them."
Then the egg burst, and he cried out. "Ah! It's--" The egg burst, and then the blue pushed away the fragments. He was soon asleep, and S'las couldn't help laughing.
I-It's not going to stay, is it? Tugenth raised his head from the water, eye whirling yellow with alarm. Will I have to share a weyr with that--that thing?!
You didn't seem to mind.
No, I didn't think you'd get one!
What does that mean?
Tugenth did not reply, only sunk back down into the water and bubbled unhappily.
S'las was still laughing, and he realized that no one understood why. He stopped himself, cleared his throat, then said, "Tugenth. Not very happy with our little intruder here." He glanced down at the napping blue and stroked his head affectionately. "Forya would love to see you," he murmured to it. "She'd want to name you Blue, wouldn't she?" He chuckled a bit, then placed Blue on his shoulder. The little lizard sighed in his sleep, adjusting slightly to the position, then relaxing.
"Thank you, Luna," he said, gesturing at Blue. "I'll train him to send messages to my family back at Benden. My niece will love him."
A'ver continued to watch, trying to as unobtrusive as possible, though Kriss was far more problematic. The fire lizard finally came back to his owner, perching on the weyrling's shoulder, and crying pitifully for food that the chubby creature really didn't need. However, in an effort to silence the blue, the lanky lad snaked an arm forward to grab a handful of meat tidbits left in a bowl, which promptly disappeared down his flit's throat.
The green weyrling shook his head with a chuckle, amused, as attention was drawn back once again to the hatching in front of him. So many flits... Eyes widened at the sight of one--a crimson colored flit? Nah, it had to be a brown... But as he peered closer, even going so far as to take several steps toward the group, it was clear the fire lizard was red in hue. "How odd...." A'ver murmured to himself, turning his head to watch as several more hatched. A wide grin creased visage at the sight of a brown pestering an egg, and his owner, a bronze rider, finally give in and step forward. However....what had hatched was a silver? There was no mistaking that brilliant metallic sheen. "What a gorgeous creature..." Words were breathed almost silently as a few people began to drift away. So much excitement, and all the eggs now hatched. The weyrling took that to be his cue to leave, slipping out of the Weyrwoman's visiting room while silently tallying up the colors of the flits and what he'd guessed. "Oh yeah, two marks!" He crowed, tossing up his arms as he sauntered toward the weyrlake, where Imith's head surfaced, mind a whirl with curiosity.
