Ingasa was always one for the mornings, when everyone else was asleep. Silently, she managed to creep out of the Candidate barracks a half hour before curfew and slide down to the Lake. After that, she watched the sun rise on the waters, admiring the sight.
As people began to spill out, the black-haired girl got nervous. Wringing her hands, she wondered if she would be yelled at. But, there was only one way to find out. With a swallow of determination, Ingasa held her group and kept her eyes focused on the lake.
The waters were clear and reflected the morning sun. What a sight. With a soft smile, she remembered sitting next to Lorila and saying, "Good Morning, Sunshine," to the sun every day. The memory was a happy one, and she found herself repeating the words just for nostalgia's sake.

It was morning, the sun peeking over the lip of the Bowl. Everything was still except for the watchpair. Gray eyes swept over area as solid footfalls echoed ahead, heralding the arrival of their owner. Imner made his way steadily toward the Lake, even though it appeared someone else was already there. He would say hello, then give them their space. Or leave if the girl wished it. He didn't want to step on any toes. However, he did wish to take a quick dip in the lake.
He'd fallen asleep directly last night, and been unable to wash up. He feared he still had soot on his face, and his strawberry blonde hair was probably more dirty blonde. At least it was short and couldn't tangle. In truth, he didn't mind being a bit dirty, but he had to look presentable for the Weyrwoman. Booted feet slowed as he drew to a close near Ingasa, remaining several feet away with a little bag of sweet sand clasped in one large hand.
"Morning. Sorry. Mind?" Simple words were used with expressions to convey his feelings. Greeting was friendly, apology made with a gesture toward her figure there by itself, while inquiry was made with a sweep of his hand toward the lake--the one holding his sweet sand. Hopefully she would understand, though it wouldn't be the first time someone had simply called him half-wit and to move off. Which he did. It was easier than picking fights--even if he could win them.

The arrival of another caught her off-guard, and she jumped at the sound, the muscles in her back rippling as she did so. She glanced at the boy, then paused to figure out what he was saying. "Huh?" The look on her face was one of confusion and that face you give people when they're weirdos. Then, after turning it over in her mind, the confused expression faded and was replaced with one of sheer embarrassment.
"OH! Oh, I--I'm sorry, I--" She gathered up her skirts and stood, dusting off the grass and dirt. "I... I'll go, then. I don't want to..." see you naked, she finished in her mind. Yeah, and probably throw up. Eew. With a nod and a blush, she began to head back towards the candidate barracks. Well, that was... Interesting.

Imner studied the girl he had so obviously started, noting the look of confusion creeping across her visage. And the one that made it clear she thought his mind half gone. A soft sigh made chest expand and contract as her expression turned to one of embarrassment. What on Pern had she thought he'd said? His own visage reflected confusion as she gathered herself together and made to leave.
"Wait. Confused." Imner informed her, not sure if she would stay to clear up this mess. He really wasn't sure what was going through her mind. All he'd wanted to do was wash up. Had she really only been content to have the whole area to herself? Scared limb rose, fingers running over the dirty bristles of his hair. Did he truly smell so bad? Perhaps that had been it... "Explain?" Word had the semblance of a plea to it, hands spreading from his sides, one still holding it's bag of sweet sand.

The words stopped her and she turned. After listening for a while, she realized that she had confused him. Hah, what a joke--she, confusing him! Then again, he spoke in one words and she spoke in broken sentences. Yes, indeed...
"You wish to bathe," she said, promptly, shifting uncomfortably. "And to bathe, you have to be..." She swallowed, then chuckled a bit. Oh, oh dear, how to say this... "Well, you have to be naked, unless you intend on swimming in your clothing. And you're a young man, and I'm a young woman, and it isn't proper for me to... ehr, well..." Another nervous laugh escaped her lips, and Ingasa placed a hand over her mouth. Finally, she figured she should just say what she meant. "If you're going to bathe, I want to preserve your dignity and let you have some privacy."
She hoped she made sense. This was so awkward...!

Head had cocked slightly to one side as she explained herself, eyes widening as it dawned upon him what she had thought. A faint flush spread across cheeks, his weight shifting between booted feet. She thought he would be that...improper, as to bathe naked in public? It would be rude! However, the way she explained it made clear her own discomfort at the situation.
"Not bathe. Wash up. With clothes." Imner reiterated, attempting to make himself more clearly understood. At least, he meant enough clothes to preserve decency. He'd take off his tunic and boots, leaving his breeches firmly in place. The lad turned and sat down, looking out across the water as he began to tug off his foot coverings with a ponderous absent-mindedness, previous embarrassment completely forgotten. "Good Morning, Sunshine?" Words were said with the air of a question as he quoted what he had heard as he'd approached the lake. He'd never heard the saying before.
