S'las, there's movement out there. I can't move my head to see it!
The bronze's tone seemed urgent, and S'las glanced up from the desk where he had once again tried to write a letter to his family back at Benden. This was yet another time he had been interrupted, and he sighed, stepping towards the bronze to see out the edge of the window.
"Tugenth, it's a runner. It's loose. A drudge is chasing it to get it. We're fine."
You never know.
S'las glanced up at the bronze. "And why couldn't you have stuck your big head out of the weyr?"
It.. It might have attacked me. The bronze's brow furrowed and he lowered his head to nuzzle S'las. If it got past me, it'd hurt you.
"A runner?"
What if it wasn't a runner, S'lasmine? What if it wasn't?
A moment's consideration passed, and S'las embraced his bronze. "I appreciate your concern, but please. Don't. Nothing in its right mind would attack a bronze."
A gold could, if she wanted to.
"Yeah, but Raineth wouldn't dream of hurting you. She might not be cute and cuddly, but she's not mean." With that, S'las turned away from the bronze and walked over to his desk to clean up his stationary and pen. It was best not to try, as it seemed a letter to Forya and Judia was ot in today's schedule.

Luna had been pacing for the past few candlemarks. She glanced outside, alright it had been longer than that. She huffed and put her hands on her hips. Well, Raineth was asleep so Luna would have to do her own peptalk. "Alright, it's just a quick chat. Hey, how are you, bye sort of thing. I do it all the time." The nodded her head and started to the leave the Weyr in a no nonsense sort of way. At the last second she veered and sat on her bed. She wasn't quite sure why she was nervous. She talked to bronzers and riders all the time. Maybe it was just because now she wasn't just a gold rider, she was the WW.
Having Raineth's flight with no bronzers and worse, no one she knew had driving home one fact. She needed to know her Weyr, especially those who might succeed in becoming her Weyrleader. It wasn't like she was looking for a Weyrmate now, she just didn't want a stranger to wake up to. Or that moment of sheer panic when she wondered just who her Weyrleader was. Or maybe the worse moment when he told her he didn't want anything to do with her pathetic Weyr although she on the other hand...
Luna had thrown him out after that. She shook her head sharply, none of that mattered, she was dealing with here and now. Wouldn't he be sad now? She had people pouring in by the day, she didn't need him. With thoughts of the eggs on the Sands and the people journeying to her Weyr, Luna quickly decided to find her way and talk to some of her riders. She only had a few transfer, but with her being the Candidate Master, she felt she really hadn't talked to anyone yet.
So it was with determination that Luna saw a great bronze head poking out from a Weyr. Well, not really poking out, he was kinda behind the stone wall, but with his size he was still easily seen. Deciding the bronze had probably seen her she continued up to the archway and gave a quick knock, despite the fact that S'las probably already knew she was her via his dragon.

His good eye was lucky to be on the side facing Luna, and Tugenth turned his head towards the Weyrwoman, extending his neck as a gesture of friendliness and trust. He did that for few people, but as S'las did not seem to have much problem with her, Tugenth could accept her around.
S'las, the weyrwoman is here to see you.
Fortunately, S'las had finished cleaning up, and he checked his weyr to make sure it wasn't completely filthy before walking up to the entry and forcing a smile onto his face. The smile was weak and pathetic, but he tried. "Luna," he said, his attempt at enthusiasm curling in a ball and screaming in pain. "Come on in. Make yourself comfortable." He stepped back to let her in first, as any gentleman would. "Is there anything I can do for you? Have a drudge bring you klah? Or is there something else?"

She dipped her head in acknowledgment of Tugenth while waiting for S'las to make his way to where she was. When S'las did appear, she halfway regretted her decision. He seemed a little ... she wasn't quite sure if it was nerves or what, but definitely not relaxed. She walked into the small common area of his Weyr, not wanting to intrude further into his space. The larger the dragon you had, the more space, for obvious reasons, but still she had to create boundaries and make sure she understood other's boundaries. It hadn't occurred to her that he might be a little upset at her visiting him here, but she honestly hadn't thought to summon him to her as per usual.
"No," she said in response to his questions, "I'm quite all right at the moment. I just wanted to visit some of my riders. I realized I've been spending a lot of time with the Candidates and hardly even know the names of the riders and dragons of my Weyr." She paused for a second before remembering, "I do hope you and Tugenth are doing well?" It was his fault that she hadn't asked sooner. He'd kinda just swept her up into a bunch of questions. She did hope that Tugenth hadn't taken offense, like Golds, Bronzes tended to be rather formal.
Not aware that he'd just cleaned it, she glanced around with approval. Tidiness was a good thing in a Weyr. It indicated organization and attention to detail, key things needed for any rider. It was possible he hadn't had a chance to become messy, what with only being here a few days, but she doubted it.
(( Ahh, the awkwardness of first meetings ))

Honestly, he would have allowed her anywhere but the writing desk, for he had the misfortune of noting that a few thin hides and pulp parchment were sticking out from under the thick hide used to conceal them. And he had managed to keep it somewhat organized, but his crash-clean had helped a great deal. Organization was something he was good at, if given the time, but having only recently moved in, he could only do so much while trying to help the Weyrwoman out. Organizing his room was hardly one of the things.
"A visit. That's reasonable." He nodded, then glanced around the room. "Let me get you a chair. That way we can sit." He darted over to the desk, dragged away the chair, and placed it by the table with the other chair. "Please, sit. I'd rather you be comfortable while you're here." Then he remembered she had askeda question. "Oh, oh yes. Tugenth and I are doing just fine. Had an incident with a runner a few moments ago--" he shot Tugenth a knowing look, "--and we greeted our new bluerider earlier today. All in all, productive."
I was just trying to protect you... Tugenth's voice carried some sadness, and it brought a frown to S'las's face. I know, Tugenth. I know.
His attention turned away from Tugenth to Luna. "And how are you and Raineth, besides exhausted from running around like a headless chicken?"

Luna moved over to the table and sat down, after all her pacing her feet appreciated the break. She felt like she'd walked more during the past sevenday then all the rest of her life. Gross exaggeration, but it didn't change how she felt. She perked up a little, "She made it? I'd heard that a Searchrider was coming to say, but I wasn't sure she was. I'd had a few decide they didn't want that much work." Going from being part of a group to the only Searchdragon hadn't appealed to them much. She supposed she would feel like that. Many Searchdragons took it as a personal failure to have a dragon go between and being the only dragon did make it seem worse.
She chuckled and shook her head, "We're not really running yet. Raineth spends most of her time by the eggs. I'm trying to get her to go hunting, but without the father of the clutch there to take over the protective stance, she's resisting. Apparently I'm not fearsome enough." She tried to laugh it off, but it kinda hurt that Raineth wouldn't let her watch the eggs. It also terrified her that the dragon wouldn't go hunting until the egg hatched. It'd already had been a full sevenday since Raineth had visited the feeding pens. About as long as it'd been since everyone had started arriving. Dragons were known to go longer without food, but Luna would always worry when Raineth was involved.
"Anyway, I fear that the real work will happen when the Candidates Impress. A Weyrling Master has yet to request a transfer so I'll be trying to do that as well until someone appears. I suppose when I turn into the WW, CM, and WM we'll see some real running." She glanced at the bronzerider and noted that she'd done a lot of talking for such a small question. "But, yeah, in short we're doing well. The eggs are healthy so far and the Weyr's growing what more could I want?" She finished lamely, desperately hoping he'd just ignore three quarters of what she'd said. She really needed to learn to stop babbling to anyone who talked to her. It was tough really, she was having all these new responsibilities and experiences and no one to share them with. That turned into her just talking to anyone and everyone who'd listen, a bad trait for a WW.
(( Weyrwoman = WW, Candidate Master= CM, Weyrling Master= WM I pretty sure everyone knows what they mean, but just in case. ^.^ ))

Unfortunately for Luna, S'las was the kind of person to hang on every word. He was a listener, not a speaker. It had made him valued in his former Weyr. Perhaps not so much here. However, he was not one to respond to everything; instead of replying to every little thing, he picked out the few things he could control and chose to respond to those.
As he listened to her speak, he grabbed a skin of wine, good Benden red (a parting gift from his sister), and poured them both a glass into two of the three goblets he kept around as a means of entertainment when riders stopped by. He offered her the cup, setting it on the table by her, then took his and sat across from her.
"Indeed," he said with a sigh. "Well, if you need help with Weyrlings, I'd be honored to help with whatever you need. And as for your queen not eating..." He glanced up at Tugenth. "This one needs to get out more. I've been trying to write a letter, and I can't do that with him jumping at every shadow."
You're nominating me to hunt. Indeed, Tugenth. Besides, imagine how gratified the gold will be, Tuge. The bronze narrowed his good eye, then shifted as if considering actually flying off to the pens right now. Right, right. I'll do it if she wants me to.
S'las's eyes returned to Luna's face. "Tugenth doesn't mind getting Raineth food, if she doesn't mind him bringing her some. It's to alleviate your nerves and perhaps the queen's discomfort."
