It some ways it seems the dragon and person are flipp flopped. Luna is the fiery tempered one who sometimes, acts a little too proud and Raineth often has to keep tabs on her. She hates to see others over looked or perhaps pushed down. She'll take a stand against anyone who is just looking to get one over on another person. She has seemed to make it her own personal goal to help the underdog. Seeing her as the lowest gold rider in a Weyr too big to care, it's not hard to see why.
She can come off as no-nonsense, but she has a huge heart and can sometimes be pushed to ignore a small rule or two if the story is good enough. Luna tries to put up as strong a front as she can. She's new to the leadership position so sometimes it doesn't take too much to change her mind, so her stern demeanor is a guard against that.
Luna does have a strong set of morals. If those are in question, she wouldn't budge ever. In short, sometimes she needs a second in command for the smaller details and to help her not go back on them. Luna is always focused on the big picture or what's happening in the future.
History:
Luna grew up near Benden Hold. It wasn't until her 13th turn that her father moved to Benden. He was a Woodcarver and becoming quite reknown after helping a rather good Harper. Osran hadn't meant for the Harper to start promoting him, but with a family to feed he wasn't going to snub the help either. Osran starting getting enough calls for business that he hired a few apprentices and bought himself a little shop to hold all his tools and provide a big area for all the projects. Luna's mother was quite happy for she needn't worry about cleaning wood shavings out of the common room anymore.
Their good luck ended two turns later when Luna's mother Loretta developed a racking cough. The healer said it seemed to be some sort of lung cough and she might survive it, but it was doubtful. Osran spent most of his time tending to his wife, or trying to find a better healer. He spent most of his wealth futility trying to save her. In the end, it broke his business, his heart, and the home fractured under the pressure.
So it was with low hopes that Luna went, when a blue rider Searched her. She needed to get out of the depressing atmosphere. It'd be one long turn of Standing and healing before Raineth burst forth from her egg. As with every time, Luna gazed in awe at the gold egg. She'd always felt like she should ride a gold. Not because she was so great, but because of the great things she felt she could do with a Weyr behind her.
Luna will always count her Impression to Raineth as one of the best moments in her life. What happened after wasn't what it seemed cracked up to be. She was the sixth gold rider in the Weyr. She was even more useless than the green riders it seemed. She would say something and later find out that a more senior gold had said something different. Her word meant nothing. She was set tasks for just filing paperwork the others were too lazy, or busy with "real" work to do. It made her diligent, but it also made her angry.
When the Harpers declared that there were to be more gold riders, she spent all waking moments possible to finding a place. In secret, she set up her place, she had some who would follow her, but not enough for the Harpers to approve.

Raineth has a really deep, burnt gold color covering most of her body. Her wing membranes and the lower portion of her tail has a sheer light golden color that is highly noticeable due to the stark contrast. For her, it seems to work, plus are you really going to be the one to say anything mean to one of the biggest dragons on Pern? Her size is medium to large, but she will never be mistaken for the largest queen on Pern. She was graceful, even as a newly hatched dragonet and once you add that to her sheer highlights, she's quite eyecatching, both to dragons and humans alike.
Personality:
Raineth can come off as rather pushy and demanding, but she does have a sweet side to her. She needs to know that she's in charge and that others will follow her, perhaps it was being the last gold down in the Weyr that made this true or perhaps it's because she's a gold and that's that, either way she has an idea about how things go and they will go that way. She's compassionate, especially towards mothers or their children. This has become increasingly apparent as her eggs harden on the Sands and she gets used to mothering.
