Person[/b]
Name: V'kem
Gender: Male
Age: 28 turns
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Bronzerider
Family:
Karista - Mother (dead)
Father- unknown, assumed dead
Tikel - foster brother/cousin
Karein - foster mother/aunt
Appearance:
V'kem stands on the short side, barely 5'3" tall. He has a narrow, sharp angled face with sharp searching blue eyes. Whiplike is an apt decription for him in most ways. Though not tall, he's built like he should be tall, with willowy limbs and thin corded muscle that often is underestimated. V'kem doesn't look the part, but he's not one to judge weak on appearance.
Not one to care much for being vain, V'kem has let his sandy blonde hair grow to touch his shoulder blades in it's uneven cut. So long as it's not bothering him, he won't hack it off again. He's actaully quite fair skinned, making his scattering of old scars stand out like they are recently gotten. Acutely aware he is far from the tallest in the weyr, V'kem typically holds himself in a proud alert posture, as if ready at any moment for things to go wrong.
Personality:
Quick to anger, V'kem often keeps to himself. He hold little value in other humans, and thus wants little to do with them. It could very well be said he has no emotion, though this would not be entirely correct. V'kem is just more prone to anger over all other emotions. He's just a fuse waiting to be lit. At the same time, one could be his friend quickly with a gift of fruit.
Being one to quickly anger though doesn't mean he'll quickly let things go. He takes insult personally, and tolerates it poorly. It feeds into his reasoning that he should have little to do with others. Alone, V'kem becomes deeply thoughtful, often reflecting on the day, and picking out how others managed to offend him. Aside from caring about Teglth, V'kem would probably be the most self centered being ever.
That's not to say he doesn't follow leadership. He knows his place, and knows the respect he owes to those above him. Respect is far from care in his mind though. If he catches wind of weakness in those above him, V'kem is the first to play that to his advantage if possible.
V'kem most enjoys quiet time where he can think. He's rather fond of thinking over the idea's that go through his head. It wouldn't be that unusual to see him wording out harper songs as they pass through his mind, though he has absolutely no musical talent at all.
Oppertunistic, proud, self centered, and tempermental are the best words for him.
History:
V'kem was born to a former greenrider, one that lost her dragon the same turn V'kem was born. Having that emotional trauma, she gave her son to be be fostered in a small hold. Later, V'kem found she killed herself shortly afterward. Instead of being remoseful like a child would normally be, it infuriated him. He was ashamed and offended at his birthmother's lack of will.
He was surprised to be chosen during a search, and even more shocked to have impressed. It fed into being self centered to prove the people wrong that had told V'kem he would leave the sands alone. People were right the first two times he stood as a canidate, but the third time was where they were all proven wrong.
Among many canidates, and a large clutch that seemed to be nothing but greens, a brown hatched, an angry one at that, that charged Verkem and attempted to barrel right over him, leaving him with thin scratches in the sands, until a bronze head nudged him to get up. V'kem did, and since then, has put Teglth first in almost everything.
In training, V'kem was usually quite attentive, eager to learn, but perhaps too eager. He was also the first looking to find out what the next lesson would hold. Where he was eager on the ground though, V'kem became a pest once he could fly. Forever wanting to try things his way, and seperate from the group, it's a wonfer he didn't drive someone mad. Though he almost outgrew such antics, V'kem still looks to do things his own way whenever possible, even if he doesn't act on what he thinks up.
Dragon
Name: Teglth
Color: bronze
Age: 10 turns
Appearance:
Teglth is not extremely large for a bronze, but he is not small either thank-you-very-much. He's stocky in build, with a shorter frame and legs, but longer wings, making long distance flight easy on him. Sadly, this comes with a price to him manuvering in flight. Teglth is a deep shade of bronze, as though his color has been burnt once or twice onto him.
Personality:
Teglth is the calm half to V'kems temper. It takes an effort to get him angered, and even then it doesn't last long. Though this is true, Teglth is acutely proud, mocking most other dragons or riders he does not like, but has learned in aging to keep it to himself. He does have a determined steak to him though. Once Teglth decides something needs to be done, it will get done, regardless of what the effort involved in the matter.
He knows he is important to V'kem, and like his rider might, takes advantage of the fact, often steering V'kem away from as much trouble as he can. Teglth is wise enough to know his place, and passes this wisdom to his rider often.
Pet(s)
Name: Kaino
Gender: Male
Age: 2 turns
Species: Flitt
Appearance:
Kaino is a pale, lanky brown flitt. His color is almost a light caramel shade, with a his muzzle being just a bit darker. His wings are a bit large for his body size, but it doesn't affect his flying in any noticable way.
Description:
Kaino was a fluke from the start. V'kem had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. In visiting his foster mother at Karoon Hold, he was invited by the Lady of the Hold to join the hatching of her gold flitts clutch. He'd only intended on watching really, but having food in hand was enough to attract Kaino to him.
Kaino is a tempermental one, much like V'kem is really. He'll annoy whoever he's mad at mercilessly with chattering and noise. He's quick to get bored though, and quits after some time passes to go back and demand attention from V'kem. In Kaino's mind, V'kem is a source of attention and food at all times, no matter what the rider is doing. Dispite his temper, if he takes to someone, he becomes an attention hound, and prefers girls because of this, as they tend find him cute.
