Personality:
summary: low self-esteem, serves others before self, kind, empathetic
Reserved and polite, Ingasa is the first person to give up a seat if confronted with a need to do so. She is constantly worrying about others and their happiness, as well as how they perceive her. Nothing worries her more than being rejected from a group, as the acceptance of others determines her self-worth.
Empathetic to a fault, whenever Ingasa sees someone hurt or needing assistance, she has to stop to help him or her. If she doesn't, she instantly goes on about how horrible a person she is. She also lives to be complimented. However, a harsh word or criticism shatters her fragile self-esteem, and she believes every word of it to be proof of her poor character.
Self-esteem level is zero, and she often spends a lot of time acting mopey or depressed when not helping others. She also has a hard time with relationships, as she often perceives things such as being late or not wanting to do something with her as a reflection of her as a person and not as either a schedule conflict or a lack of will to do that. She also holds to the belief that no one puts as much into a relationship as she does, and this often depresses her.
History:
Born in Ruatha Hold, Ingasa never knew her real parents. Her mother died shortly after birth, having bled to death. There were numerous possibilities for the father, as it was known that Faythe loved nothing more than spending time in a man's bed. The midwife who birthed her named her Ingasa for her own deceased daughter, and found her a nurse to keep her alive.
Lorila was an older woman. Her husband had died recently, and all the children she had bore had died, with the exception of her son, a frail, sickly man who had gone to Fort to care for the dragons there. Her daughter Ingasa had lived to five before dying of pneumonia. This Ingasa, a healthy babe born to a mother who didn't deserve her even if the mother had lived, would be her new daughter.
Unfortunately, Lorila was old. When Ingasa was seven, Lorila died. At the funeral of the midwife, a greenrider showed up to watch. He was tall and skinny, though sickly was hardly a word to describe him. The rider was M'ril, the midwife's son who was supposed to be a healer. He found the young Ingasa crying and offered to take her back to the weyr. Ingasa agreed, since M'ril was Lorila's son.
M'ril, a more reserved man, did not go completely crazy over Ingasa. However, F'tor, M'ril's weyrmate, instantly adored the child and insisted that they raise her as their own. And so, Ingasa found a new family.
However, once she began to stand on the sands, she found that she got rejected every time. She was lucky not to get mauled, but no baby dragon looked her way. Ingasa, being what she is, began to take this as she wasn't good enough to ride a dragon. She was ashamed to be in Fort. When she heard of a new Weyr being formed, she stole a runner from the stables and rode, cross-country, to Benden and begged someone to take her to Surion. Asking her fathers was out of the question, as they insisted that she could Impress at Fort. But Ingasa was determined.
She made it to Surion without much hassle--a nice bluerider let her tag along. And now, she awaits either a Hatching or a chance to make herself useful. Either way, she wants to help the new Weyr best she can.
Her recent Impression to Yinideth has made her happier than she's ever been, though the hard part of riding a dragon will come soon. Oh dear.
Dragon
Name: Yinideth
Color: Green
Age: Hatchling
Appearance:
Personality:
Dignified and regal, Yinideth believes her every public move to reflect her personality and background. Granted, this facade lasts only in public, and around Ingasa she's much more relaxed. Yinideth, like her rider, is empathetic and emotional, and enjoys affection as well as closeness. She can be vain, using her rider's caring and nurturing nature to her advantage.
But, of course, Ingasa doesn't mind. Yinideth could chew on her leg and she'd still be happy.
