Name: Vittoria Gender: female Age: 17 Sexuality: heterosexual Rank: Candidate
Family: Toriel: father, 43 Turns - financial wizard Rialyn: mother, 44 Turns - housewife R'tor: brother, 19 Turns - Bluerider at Southern Weyr, Impressed to Echirth Tilele: sister, 16 Turns - Apprentice Miner Elliet: grandmother, 67 Turns - best grandma ever (yes, that is her job)
Appearance: Vittoria likes to think that her eyes are the first thing that catches men's attention, but in truth, it's her hair. It falls in long blond waves to just below her chest, and she keeps it free much of the time. Her mother always exclaimed with annoying regularity that her hair was her best feature and to flaunt it whenever possible, and so Vittoria has learned to heed those words and create elaborate hairstyles that fall just short of "gaudy." She has very blue eyes, inherited from her father, and does everything she can to make them more noticeable. In the past, she had always hated it when it took people more than a day or two to notice her eyes. Otherwise, Vittoria has very normal facial features.
Vittoria has a slim build overall, which annoyed her when she was younger because she could always be pushed around by her older brothers. Now, though, she loves her shape, especially because she fits in just about every style of clothing. She looks mature for her age, with slightly widened hips and medium-small breats. Vittoria matured early, taking after her mother. Her skin has a sort of sun-kissed glow from a lifetime of living in the south, but it doesn't (and probably never will) have the dark pigmentation required to not burn. Of course, compared to paler people, she doesn't burn anywhere near as often, but she can't spend five hours in the sun and expect to escape.
Vittoria usually wears very feminine clothing, consisting of dresses or flowy skirts and shirts. It's how she was raised, never wearing much else. She takes great pride in her clothing and thinks of it as a surefire way to show her beauty, even if the rest of her body is dirty and icky. Which it never is, by the way.
Personality: When people meet Vittoria for the first time, they assume she is either a modest, kind girl or a stuck-up brat. Truthfully, she doesn't fall neatly into either stereotype, but she is more the latter than the former.
Vittoria is vain, to say the least. She cares overly much about her appearance, whether by nature or nurture. She will always be the first to judge someone else based on their looks, and sticks by this first impression no matter what. She is drawn to big, pretty things and will always pick the handsome son of a wherry over any homely sweetheart. She finds modesty distasteful in most people.
She is also quick tempered, which gives her a bit of a hotheaded reputation back home. She finds fault in many things and is driven to correct them, although she prefers to delegate the work to someone else. She doesn't go out of her way to do more work, to say the least. People have called her lazy, but that's one thing Vittoria truly is not. It may seem that way, but given a task she can't pawn off, she will always do it well and in a timely manner. She hates it when something is left undone, and if it happens, she will often do it herself.
Vittoria isn't prone to extreme emotions, and although not the proverbial rock, she very rarely gets into an all-out rage. She isn't given to flights of fancy, and is very much in control of her outward emotions. It's difficult to tell when she's sad, since Vittoria absolutely hates when random people ask her if she's okay.
History: Vittoria was born and raised at Cove Hold. Her parents had money, and although they weren't particularly highly ranked, they were very well-off. Her father had a mind for numbers (which Vittoria definately did not inherit) and kept the coffers full.
Vittoria was raised by her mother and older brother, since her father was often out of the house advising someone on this or that. Until she was eight, she played outside with her brother and didn't think much of being a lady or any of that gross girl stuff. She had exactly one female friend, named Eylan, and the two shared everything. However, Eylan was always admiring what Vittoria had, be it money, clothes, or other possesions.
When she was old enough to go dancing with her mother, Vittoria was kept inside, clean, and wearing dresses. She quickly grew to love the fancy clothes, and Eylan and Vittoria grew farther and farther apart. Vittoria mourned the loss of her friend, but the company of her mother was more than enough to fill the void. There wasn't much she couldn't or didn't have, and this satisfied her.
Vittoria loved this life and the love it got her from Rialyn and Toriel. They repeated over and over that they would always love her, no matter what, but Vittoria believed that if she had turned out ugly or clumsy, she would be stuck playing outside with her clumsy brothers.
Rialyn realized her daughter's potential when Vittoria began menstrating; this girl could bring her to the very top of the food chain with her looks and grace. She began purchasing elaborate dresses and getting the girl to eat correctly and teach her manners. This development wasn't Vittoria's cup of tea, but she didn't complain. Eylan dropped out of her mind completely as new, better, and prettier friends came into her life.
Boys were also a big part of her life. Vittoria always had a boyfriend from the age of thirteen on. It became a small mark of status to have gone out with Vittoria, and they often worked out a waiting list. I'll go out with her this sevenday, then you can go, and agreements like that. Vittoria, although informed of these proceedings, didn't care much. She was always hanging off someone's arm, and she was happy.
Vittoria was only a few sevendays past her thirteenth birthingday when Rietor was Searched. She begged and begged for him to stay, or at least let her come along, but the green doing the Searching said that while she did have potential, they were looking for brown and bronze Candidates. For days, Vittoria wouldn't leave her room. She mourned the loss of her dear brother.
The clutch at Southern Hatched right after Vittoria got over her sadness. Word came that Rietor, now called R'tor, had Impressed blue Echirth. The family celebrated, and made a short trip to the Weyr to congratulate their son.
It was around this time that Tilele entered the social scene with Vittoria and Rialyn. Vittoria's younger sister was plain, so she was given a choice to pursue an apprenticeship or come along to parties. After two months on the social scene, Tilele gave up and went to the Minerhall to learn.
Vittoria spent the years of fourteen to sixteen as a mildly popular girl, but she couldn't match the extreme beauty required to really suceed in the social circle, much to her mother's dismay.
She was Searched by a greenrider who assured her that R'tor was doing well, and in fact he was probably at another Hold right now, since Echirth had turned out to be quite a Searchdragon. Although Vittoria pleaded to be taken to him that second, the greenrider refused and carted her off to the Weyr.
Vittoria was one of the earlier Candidates to arrive, which suited her very well since the Weyr was so much different and she didn't fancy being the one who didn't know much.
The clutch was not laid when she arrived, but it didn't bother her. Vittoria wandered about the Weyr fro a few days, picking up customs immediately. After a sevenday, it was difficult to tell that she was Holdborn.
When the clutch was laid, it turned out to be very small; only thirteen eggs, with no queens. Vittoria Stood for it, but didn't Impress. She wasn't sure if she wanted to Impress anything but gold.
None of the golds at Southern were due to Fly for almost another eight months, so when Vittoria heard of Surion Weyr, she made the journey with a bluerider. It was an easy decision for her: wait around and do nothing, or be proactive and go where the clutch is?

Overall good, the only thing I could nitpick is the ages. 50 is considered incredibly old in Pern, think back to medieval times, you were a woman at 13, old crone by 22, and probably dead by 39, so a 67 is like someone living to be 104 about now. Of course, it doesn't really matter, just thought I'd point it out.
Approved and Moved.
